Summary Description
- DB-HERITAGE provides for open and free sharing of wide-ranging technical data on thousands of building materials samples, from diverse periods, extracted from the Portuguese built heritage worldwide. It incorporates both physical and digital repositories for the systematic collection of samples and related data on the history, properties, and performance of building materials, aiming to improve know-how on performance of historic building materials and develop best practices for conservation and restoration of the built architectural and archeological heritage.

- Collections of building materials samples, extracted from Portuguese built heritage all over the world, are managed and shared in DB-HERITAGE. Thousands of samples from the prehistory to the contemporary period and related data, including information on provenance and context, as well as wide-ranging technical data is available at DB-HERITAGE. Researchers, managers, technicians, students and public users handling built heritage have free and open access to samples linked data by making use of simple common policies at DB-HERITAGE. All types of collections available at DB-HERITAGE are gathered for their scientific, historic, and documentary values. These values and social, economic, and educational values for present and future generations are moreover related with the end use of the knowledge produced by research of the past. Some of the collections have likewise notable artistic value.
